Las Vegas Trip

...And we're back.

Linzy and I made it back safe and sound from our trip to Las Vegas. It was a fun vacation. While it certainly wasn't a place I would want to live (or even visit on a frequent basis), it was an interesting place to visit at least once.

We left the Twin Cities on Sunday afternoon, had a layover in Salt Lake City, and then arrived in Vegas late that evening. After a significant amount of hassling with the MGM Grand over our room, we eventually got settled in.

On Monday we spent the day exploring some of the hotels on the Strip. We went to the shark reef in Mandalay Bay, went in the Luxor, New York New York, the Venetian, Paris, and spent a while in the Bellagio. For dinner we went to Pearl in the MGM Grand, and had a really fancy and expensive but outstanding dinner.

On Tuesday we ventured a little further afield, visiting the far end of the strip and the Stratosphere. After that, we went downtown to see the Fremont Street Experience and eat dinner at the Redwood Bar & Grill (for the unadvertised Porterhouse Special, which was very good).

On Wednesday we rented a car and spent the day out at the Hoover Dam, driving around Lake Mead and checking out the Valley of Fire. For dinner that night we went to the Spice Market Buffet at the Alladin.

On Thursday we went out to Red Rock Canyon and did a little hiking and scrambling on the rocks. That evening we went to see Cirque Du Soleil Mystere, which was amazing and well worth the ticket price.

Friday was spent flying home (with a much longer layover in Salt Lake City).

We even came out a bit ahead in what little gambling we did, mostly thanks to a $50 win by Linzy on the slot machines at the airport while waiting for our flight home, and me finding a "Kenny Rodgers: The Gambler" machine that was generous earlier in the week.

All in all it was a really fun trip. I took quite a few pictures which hopefully I'll get pruned down to some manageable amount for uploading this week.
